How to Do Kitchen Cabinet Maintenance

Kitchen cabinet is an important and necessary addition in any kitchen. It is considered as the heart of your kitchen because it serves as the storage space for your utensils, dishes, and other kitchen stuffs. If not maintained properly, it can cause some damage such as tearing off of its hinges, breaking of its shelves, and splitting the doors due to accumulation of crumpled materials or water. And if this happens then what you will be left with is nothing but an empty shell.

This is why it is very important that you maintain your kitchen cabinet door and drawers. The first thing to do is to have a standard cabinet soap and cleaner. You can use this in every part of the cabinet: cabinet doors, drawers, hinges, etc. You can also have them spray the drawer fronts with stain remover or acid free cleaner, which will make them look brand new once again.

The second thing that you need to do is to check the wood of your cabinets. Make sure that they are all properly coated with varnish or oil. This will protect them from damages and keep them from rotting. If the color of the wood has faded, it is best to paint it again and then refinish the cabinet, since it is not hard to do.

Aside from this, regular maintenance on your kitchen's cabinet can also prolong its lifespan. Since the cabinet is in contact with food all day long, it needs to be periodically vacuumed to remove any bits of food stuck inside the cabinet. Make sure that the cabinet door is tightly closed as well as the drawer. If there are any loose parts, replace it right away to prevent any serious damages.

Having a good set of tools on hand is also a big help in cleaning your kitchen cabinet. This will allow you to do some quick and easy cleaning without having to spend too much time doing so. You may want to get a vacuum cleaner with dual motors so you can easily use the best cleaning technique for each specific item. A wood burr grinder will also help to get rid of small pieces of hardwood and other debris. If you have a shop vac, an attachment for the tool will do the job as well.

Lastly, you should not forget to wipe out the cupboards regularly. This will prevent the buildup of mildew and will make sure that there is nothing stuck inside. In order to clean the cabinet completely, you can use water and soap mixture. Just make sure that you do not do any cleaning on the items inside the cabinet. This will prevent any scratches on the materials.
